Technical FAQs

Common questions regarding our gate valve specifications and applications.

What is the primary difference between a Wedge Gate and a Slab Gate Valve?
Wedge gate valves utilize a wedge-shaped disc that seats against inclined body seats, providing a tight seal mechanically assisted by stem thrust, making them ideal for high-pressure isolation. Slab gate valves use a parallel-faced disc that slides between two parallel seats, relying on line pressure for sealing, and are typically used in pipeline transmission where full bore and pigging capabilities are required.
When should I specify a Pressure Seal Gate Valve?
Pressure seal gate valves are recommended for high-pressure, high-temperature applications, typically above ASME Class 900. Unlike bolted bonnet valves where the seal tends to loosen as internal pressure increases, the pressure seal design utilizes the internal line pressure to force the bonnet against the sealing gasket, creating a tighter seal as pressure rises.
Do your Cryogenic Gate Valves meet industry emission standards?
Yes. Our cryogenic gate valves are designed with extended bonnets to keep the stem packing away from the extreme cold fluid, preventing freezing and maintaining seal integrity. They are tested and certified to meet stringent fugitive emission standards such as ISO 15848-1 and API 624, ensuring environmental compliance in LNG and industrial gas facilities.
