Technical FAQ

Common inquiries regarding our control valve specifications and applications.

What information is required to size a control valve correctly?
To accurately size a control valve, our engineering team requires the fluid type, flow rate (min, normal, max), inlet pressure, allowable pressure drop, operating temperature, and specific gravity/density. Providing details on potential cavitation or flashing conditions is also crucial for selecting the right trim design.
Can Self-Operated Control Valves handle high pressure drops?
While self-operated valves are highly reliable, they have limitations regarding pressure drops compared to externally actuated single-seated valves. For severe service or very high pressure drops, a standard control valve with a pneumatic or electric actuator and specialized anti-cavitation trim is usually recommended. Consult our technical team with your specific process parameters.
Do you offer special materials for corrosive media?
Yes. While standard materials include Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel (CF8/CF8M), FZV can manufacture control valves in Duplex Stainless Steel, Monel, Hastelloy, Inconel, and other exotic alloys to withstand highly corrosive or erosive environments in chemical and petrochemical applications.
